Leanne Warren | LLB

Leanne Warren is the Managing Partner of Leanne Warren & Associates, leading one of the largest and most successful specialist criminal law practices since 1995. Leanne has been practising as a criminal lawyer since 1986 and became a criminal law specialist in 1995. Previously Leanne was a partner in a specialist Criminal Law firm, Grace Warren Hale. In order to continue Leanne's strong desire to provide her clients with the best representation at all times and strengthen the growth of the firm, she has now introduced two (2) partners to the firm in July 2010.

In addition, Leanne is a member of the Criminal Law Specialisation Advisory Committee and a former member of the Executive Criminal Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria.

Leanne has extensive experience in defending a vast number of clients confronting allegations ranging from driving offences, theft, drug offences, sexual offences and murder to commercial crime and deception offences with an excellent success rate. Leanne has experience dealing with offences heard in the Children’s courts, Magistrates Courts, County, Supreme and High Courts. She also has many matters which are appeals heard in the Court of Appeal.

Jacqueline Kennedy | BComm, LLB (hons)

Jacqueline joined Leanne Warren & Associates in 2007, after several years at a suburban specialist criminal law firm. Jacqueline completed her Bachelor of Law with Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics at Deakin University.

During her time at Leanne Warren & Associates Jacqueline has proved to be a strong advocate with great leadership skills which assisted her to move from an employee solicitor to a Partner in July 2010. Jacqueline is a member of the Criminal Law Section Executive Committee of the Law Institute as well as a member of the Magistrates' Criminal Court Users Group Committee, providing many years of experience, extensive knowledge and a commitment to keeping up-to-date with changing law.

Jacqueline is a highly skilled advocate who appears regularly in the Children’s, Magistrates’ and County Courts in a wide variety of matters. Her experience includes appearing in contested bail applications, serious driving offences, drug trafficking and violence offences and the Appellate jurisdiction.

Melainie Vinton | BBus, JD

Melainie Vinton joined Leanne Warren & Associates in 2009 after several years of experience at specialist criminal law firms. Melainie completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at RMIT University in 2002 before going on to complete a Juris Doctor (post graduate law) at The University of Melbourne in 2005.

After being with the firm for a little over 12 months Melainie displayed an obvious passion in representing the clients at Leanne Warren & Associates and as a result of this clear passion and motivation Leanne introduced Melainie as a Partner to the firm in July 2010.

Melainie is an experienced advocate who appears daily in the Children’s and Magistrates’ Court in both summary and indictable crime. She handles a variety of cases ranging from road traffic offences through to serious drug, violence and sexual offences. She practises in a wide range of jurisdictions from the Magistrates' Court to the Court of Appeal. She is also known as a skilled instructor who prepares thorough and detailed briefs for Counsel representing her client's.

Melainie is a passionate solicitor advocate with a loyal client base. She is understanding of her client's needs and strives hard to achieve the best possible result in all her cases.

Nicholas Runia | BA, LLB, PGDipLegPrac

Nicholas Runia was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2009, after completing a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law. Nick’s interest in criminal law developed during law school and was fostered with volunteer work at a Community Legal Centre before he gained a position as a first year solicitor at a suburban specialist criminal law firm. Nick spent a period of 18 months there, during which time he appeared in courts throughout Victoria on a daily basis and gained significant experience in the area of criminal law.

Nick joined Leanne Warren & Associates in June of 2011. He regularly appears in Children’s, Magistrates’ and County Courts throughout Victoria in both summary and indictable crime. Nick is passionate about issues such as defendants' rights and access to justice. He greatly enjoys working in court and will always strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for his clients.

Niamh Brennan | BJUS, LLB, GDipLegPrac

Niamh graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Justice and has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. After several years of working in the field of criminal law in Victoria and Queensland, Niamh joined Leanne Warren and Associates in July 2011.

Niamh’s career in criminal law began in 2004 when she worked as a law clerk for the Department of Justice and Attorney General in Queensland. In 2008 Niamh took on a role as a law clerk for a specialist criminal law firm in Brisbane, under the supervision of her principal she dealt with matters ranging from simple traffic offences in the Magistrates’ Court up to murder Appeals in the High Court of Australia. Niamh is passionate about criminal law and after being admitted to practice in early 2010, she relocated to Melbourne to further her career. Following her move, Niamh worked for a suburban specialist criminal law firm in Melbourne. The role furthered Niamh's experience in social security fraud, traffic offences, property offences, violent offences, drug offences, sex offences, bail applications and victims of crime compensation.

Niamh has experience in both summary and indictable crime and she regularly appears as a solicitor advocate and instructor in metropolitan and regional jurisdictions throughout Victoria. Additionally, Niamh volunteers as a solicitor on the night service of a Community Legal Centre. Niamh maintains a high standard of integrity and is well known for being client focused. With experience in defence and court administrative processes, Niamh has the skill set to ensure the best possible outcome for clients.

Tracey Gulli

Tracey Gulli has had the privilege of working for Leanne Warren & Associates since the establishment of the practice in 1995. As the Practice Manager of Leanne Warren & Associates she brings to the firm an extensive accounting background together with the knowledge of working in the legal industry for a major part of her working career. Tracey previously worked as a Business Analyst for a major legal practice management software company and is always proactive about moving with technology in order to provide the clients of Leanne Warren & Associates the best level of service.
